AMF Acoustic Ceiling

AMF Thermatex

In an ongoing nationwide retail bank refit, the customer was looking for a different ceiling layout for public areas while still having access to the ceiling space.

With a number of requirements such as high acoustic tiles and an unique size of 1200x400mm in a 15mm grid plus time constraints to deliver on the dead lines, Potter Interiors delivered on all fronts.

The AMF Thermatex Acoustic were the perfect tiles at 0.7 NRC, able to be manufactured to project sizes in a  relatively short time.

AMF have a lot more options to look at for a non-standard look, so if you have a project in the pipeline and would like more info on AMF Performance ceilings please leave a comment below to get in touch.

Hi Andrew. Please humour a second-year student for a moment…

What’s the best ceiling solution for an office scheme where all the spaces are irregular geometric shapes? Do I specify one of the standard sizes, trimming all the odd angles on site, or do I have the tiles custom-made?

A suitable alternative may be an exposed ceiling – would the cost of aesthetically pleasing ductwork & cabling outweigh the cost/wastage of ceiling tiles? If not, how can I achieve reasonable acoustic insulation without tiles?

    Thanks for your help
    Rob

    Andrew Clemmet:

    Hi Rob

    Thanks for your question

There are a number of ways to get some acoustic performance out of a ceiling space, yes there is the standard two way in which you can cut in the tiles to meet the irregular shapes. In this case project sizes would not help as for your second question i am not sure of the cost of ductwork or the painting of the exposed ceiling and services. The product you can have a look at for an exposed ceiling is AMF Thermatex Sonic Sky which is a raft system and I will email you a brochure on it soon.

If you have more question please get in touch

    Hi Andrew,

How does the AMF Thermatex system compare cost-wise with a standard mid-range two-way grid system?

    Cheers

    Hi Matt

The Thermatex acoustic is a high end tile both in acoustic and finish. We have products which have similar acoustic but different finishes like the Star complete which has a pin hole face and fit in to the mid range tile market.

    Cheers

    Hi Sofi

Some of the AMF Range does come in colours but the Thermatex Acoustic is not one of them. Thermatex Alpha “Coloured” which is a 0.8 nrc comes in 4 colours Black, Creme, light blue and Silver. All these tiles are only in square edge and will have to be ordered in from Germany all a minimum of 500M2 and a shipping time of 10-12 weeks door to door.
