GWA are New Zealand's largest supplier of sanitaryware with a full range of toilet suites, basins, tapware, baths and spa baths. Their brand range includes Caroma, Fowler, Stylus and Dorf. View technical information for Caroma, Fowler, Stylus and Dorf.

The only product of its kind in the New Zealand market and already recognised for its innovation in Australia, the new Caroma Flex delivers an advanced and cost effective way of accelerating the retrofit of commercial premises while reducing water consumption.

Flex PanThe Caroma Flex is designed to cover the footprint of many older wall hung toilet pans found in aging commercial bathrooms across New Zealand.

Flex features a unique bracket with adjustable inlet and outlet connections to suit a range of existing set outs, thereby making old inefficient pans easier to retrofit. This installation flexibility reduces the need to relocate plumbing and knock down walls, helping lower installation costs and making previously cost prohibitive retrofits possible. It also minimises the need to re-tile or re-paint over old pan footprints.

The Flex pan has been specially developed to be coupled with the new Caroma Invisi Series II concealed in-wall cistern, another breakthrough innovation, for a complete water-saving retrofit solution. The Invis Series II cistern has been designed with a smaller footprint to fit a standard stud wall cavity for ease of installation with no compromise on water efficiency. Engineered with Smartflush 4.5/3L water saving technology, the cistern achieves a WELS 4 star rating. A selection of designer button options completes the package.

FlexAccording to Dr Steve Cummings, Caroma Dorf Research and Design Manager, “With many commercial buildings constructed in the 1970s and now in need of a refurbishment, Flex provides a retrofit solution not previously possible through any other means apart from a full bathroom renovation. These buildings often have inefficient fixtures and by providing them with an innovative, retrofit specific solution we can help commercial premises lower their water usage. We’re confident this product will encourage building owners to upgrade their premises.”

The Flex Pan and Invisi Series II cistern were developed in Australasia by Caroma, a leader in the development of water-saving bathroom fixtures. Caroma is at the forefront of product innovation having pioneered the development of award winning Smartflush toilet suites, the first WELS 5 star rating toilet suite — the Profile 5 with Integrated Hand Basin and the first WELS 6 star rated urinal — the Caroma Cube 0.8 Urinal suite.

We are proposing to use the Cube wall hung wc pan in a retrofit situation. The existing 100mm dia copper soil pipe connection assuming for the moment it fits with the 240-170mm floor to centre of the pipe, is it possible to use the flexible connector together with the connector bracket? We believe the bracket is required to hold the flexible connector when the pan is offered up to the pipes and wall, is this correct?

I sent an email earlier today enquiring about the use of the flexible connector and the connector bracket for a retrofit project where we propose using the Cube wall hung wc pan. There is another question I should have asked, what is the length of the connector bracket. I need to know whether the back of the bracket is to be attached to the wall face that the pan backs onto or if it has sufficient length to mount onto the wall within the duct behind the pan. The depth of the duct will be 200mm from the back of the pan to the wall.
