Australia’s Royal Australian Institute of Architects has been promoting the role of government architect as an advocate for the built environment for many years.

Australia’s most recent appointment, Peter Poulet, is also Tasmania’s first government architect.  Peter discusses his recent body of work and the politics and challenges of the role, while others outline proposals for the establishment of a similar position in New Zealand.
