Recently an architect phoned me with an issue of waterleaks on a series of plaza decks with tiles that had been placed over a torch on membrane.
The apartment complex had numerous decks and the contractor had been chasing these leaks for two and half years with limited success. I suggested International Leak Detection (ILD).
ILD were called to site and within a few days all the leaks were pinpointed enabling the contractor to lift the exact tile with the leak beneath, repair the membrane and replace the tile. ILD retested the decks to confirm the repairs were water tight.
At Allco we offer ILD as part of our on-site quality assurance program for our Casali range of Dermabit Extra APOA Torch-On membranes for membrane roofing and plaza decks. If I can be of assistance please feel free to leave a comment below.

I was really disappointed in this article as it gave no science behind finding leaks only advertising, is that what this is supposed to do?
Can I suggest that in future such articles at least give some indication on what and how the work is carried out to entice the even the less intelligent to maybe contacting you for further advice and perhaps obtaining a sale.

Thanks for making people like myself aware of this service.
You suggest we use ILD for leak detection, is this because the directors and shareholders of Allco are also the directors and shareholders of ILD? Or is it because it works?

Hi David. ILD NZ Ltd to date has tested over 60,000 m2 of membrane in NZ and has proven to be a very effective and economic way of testing new and existing membranes.
Many construction companies and responsible suppliers use ILD on a regular basis with comments from ILD customers along the lines of “why wouldn’t you use it ? the system offers pin point accuracy.”
Breaches found in the membrane during testing can be repaired and retested while the technician is on site.
Allco as a company has traditionally supplied Volclay bentonite tanking and for a number of years we have employed a site quality control engineer to call on our sites. The feedback we have received from across the construction sector has been more than encouraging. With the arrival of the ILD NZ Ltd EFVM testing we saw this as a natural extension of a quality assurance service that anyone in the construction industry could benefit from.
